Editorial Reviews:

  • Designed for demanding users who truly care about preserving the look of their precious MacBook, TrackGuard is a wear-resistant thin film solution that can effectively protect the MacBook's trackpad against the damaging effects of grease, scratches, and smudges. Carefully color-matched, and machined precisely to cover MacBook's trackpad, TrackGuard will protect the trackpad while maintaining the tactile response expected from a mouse.

TrackGuard has been surface-treated, allowing fingers to slide easily across it without a loss of sensitivity. It has also been optimized to handle all Mac OS X gestures such as: two finger vertical and horizontal scrolling, two finger right-clicking, three and four finger feature recognition, pinch to zoom in / out, and image rotation.

TrackGuard can be installed in seconds, and if removed, will not leave a sticky residue on the MacBook. TrackGuard is compatible with all MacBook unibody models including: MacBook Pro 13"", MacBook Pro 15"", and MacBook Pro 17".

  • Summary: Great product
  • Comment: The trackguard looks and feels great and it is so easy to put on. I don't know what someone was saying about not being able to tap to click with it, it works perfectly fine on mine. I would definately recommend it.

  • Summary: Hard to see keys at night, but offers great protection
  • Comment: I purchased this model because I could see that it offered some transparency to allow the MBP's keyboard lighting to shine through. Unfortunately, the only clear part is the edges of the keys, and the key letters themselves don't shine through. This actually makes it rather difficult to see the letter keys at night if the keyboard lighting is on, because the background light prevents you from seeing the letters.

That being said, I am still relatively happy with this purchase. The keys are protected and you still get the good looks of the black keys on silver. It takes some getting used to at first, but once you're comfortable with the new "feel" of the keys, you can still type pretty quickly.

  • Summary: great so far
  • Comment: i haven't had this product long, but I am very happy with it so far. It was simple to install and fits my 13" MacBook Pro perfectly. The color is a very close match and the feel is nice. I am very happy with this product. I use the tap-to-click feature instead of pressing in the trackpad, and this product does not limit that functionality.

  • Summary: Superior to the Marware one I replaced with it...
  • Comment: Essential for aluminum MBP's (if you want to keep them looking new for possible future sale). I had 2 prior which developed shiny track pads, and wear through the aluminum surface on the right wrist-rest area. Got the Marware pack about a year ago, including 2 wrist guard pieces for either side of the track pad; and, a piece of plastic-y clear stuff to cut for the track pad area. This Marware protector began to peel recently. I like the wrist guard pieces from Marware, but not the track pad protector.

Just got this Moshi trackpad protector so can't speak to longevity yet, but already I prefer it a lot to the Marware. The surface feels almost almost identical to the actual track pad and it applies easily. I'll modify this later if I develop problems with it.

  • Summary: Tap
  • Comment: dragging is fine, but tapping is terrible, it is a good product to practice strength of your fingers, but I gave up.
